I Am SO Done With Robo Calls!

For the three or four of you out there who still have land line phones... I expect you are, like me, ready to SHOOT whoever invented the robo call.

My frustration with my carrier, A T & T Uverse, is that I can manually block numbers--but only 20 numbers can be blocked at a time. If I need to block a new one, I have to first unblock one of the old ones.

It's especially vexing this year, this time of year, with the most contentious national election in my memory underway.

Nomorobo to the rescue! Yesterday morning I was reading one of my favorite blogs and the blogger described this service and the fact that he no longer gets robo calls on his home phone.

I probably broke all speed records going to the site and signing up.

This morning I've received 2 robo calls. Each one rang just once and then was cut off.

So check it out. I can attest that it works with A T & T Uverse phone service, and it does NOT work with Tracfone cell service. But I've got the cell phone covered with an Android call-blocking app.

You're welcome.

Close To Home

Blatantly stolen --er, borrowed, from the Fail Blog. Anybody know which park this is in? I haven't seen it, although I don't get out much these days....

Nice Try. I Don't Think It Will Work.

This item is again making the rounds of the in-boxes. Sent to me by a "friend" of the male persuasion. Actually, I think it's hilarious, and creative... but I won't be participating, so all of you who know where I live... just stay home, and don't stalk my house. There will be nothing to see here... move along... move along...

DON'T FORGET NEXT SATURDAY!

WALK NAKED IN AMERICA DAY

Don't forget to mark your calendars.

As you may already know, it is a sin for a Muslim male to see any woman other than his wife naked and if he does, he must commit suicide. So next Saturday at 1 PM Eastern Time, all American women are asked to walk out of their house completely naked to help weed out any neighborhood terrorists.

Circling your block for one hour is recommended for this anti-terrorist effort.

All patriotic men are to position themselves in lawn chairs in front of their houses to demonstrate their support for the women and to prove that they are not Muslim terrorist sympathizers. Since Islam also does not approve of alcohol, a cold 6-pack at your side is further proof of your patriotism.

The American government appreciates your efforts to root out terrorists and applauds your participation in this anti-terrorist activity.

God bless America!

P.S. It is your patriotic duty to inform others. If you don't send to at least one person, you're a terrorist-sympathizing, lily-livered coward and are possibly aiding and abetting terrorists.

Janet Is Fine.

A little late to the party here... but it's a wonder her friends didn't totally crash the internet yesterday, looking for her. You see, she works for the IRS in ... Austin, Texas.

However... she works in a building about 15 miles away from the the one where the latest Darwin Award contender met his demise yesterday. Naturally, she's a bit shook up, exhausted, and VERY glad today is Friday, but it could have been So. Much. Worse.

Quite a miracle that the idiot took no one else with him, isn't it?

Small Town, Be Careful.

Fortunately, I hadn't dished enough details to identify the guilty, or named any names, on the theory of not gossiping.

Good thing, because I just found out by Googling for another reason entirely that a new acquaintance of mine knows somebody who knows somebody who . . . well. That's all I'm going to stay.

Just remember, when you live in a small town, that six degrees of separation is a vast overstatement. Thus, be very careful what you say.

Words to the wise.

Happy Day

Today, according to my calendar, is Earth Day.

(Somehow I don't believe the earth actually cares.)

One of my calendars also says that today is Administrative Professionals Day.

(I liked it better when it was Secretaries' Day and the boss sent flowers.)

And last but not least... if my memory has not completely abandoned me (and that's not outside the realm of possibility)...

... today is also faithful reader and frequent commenter Bum's birthday. Happy birthday, old friend.

And In Other News...

... related to one of the items in the immediately-preceding post, I have just discovered a blog after my own heart: the I Hate Cilantro blog.

Fellow cilantro-haters... we are not alone!

Prayers, Please

UPDATE: Suzanne's home is safe for now. She says the fire was never closer than 6000 feet; but things were very, very smoky for a while there. Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts.

Good friend Suzanne's house is in the line of the latest fires. She says their bags are packed and they're ready to evacuate.

You know what to do.
